The Charter

 

Official Team Captains

 

Appointment:

The captain of each official Pont Royal team is appointed by the committee of the “Association Sportive” (AS) and holds office for one year but may be reappointed (without restriction on the number of reappointments).

 

Role:

The team captain, who will be an experienced golfer, is, without exception, approved by the AS. The player captain’s role includes:

• establishment of the season’s goals, approved by the AS

• representation of Pont Royal with authority for the team (with the AS, league, FFG)

• registration and withdrawal with the league and the FFG

• selection of players, depending on their availability, playing form, appropriateness of their handicap

• communication with players of the rules applicable for each competition, and organization for the day (co-driving, reconnaissance, accommodation, etc)

• management of formalities associated with competitions

• approval of compensation for players, before submitting these to the AS, in respect of items claimable in the Charter as outlined below

• return of information to the AS for internal communication (photos, commentary, results)

The captain should ensure that each player

• is a member of Pont Royal and the AS, with a valid medical certificate

• wears the team outfit at the time of the competition

• behaves courteously and sportingly

• respects the rules, etiquette, and avoid slow play

 

In addition to their personal capacity with the organisation, the federation, and communication, the captain should set an example of respect, motivation, sporting spirit, be available and make neutral and transparent decisions. In case of absence for a competition, the captain should ensure that a replacement is designated from among the players and notify the playing captain.

 

Process of nomination of captains for official Club teams (1*)

The captains of the official teams (First team, Senior Ladies, Senior Men) are elected for a year, renewable (2*)

At the end of the season during which the mandate is finishing and before the start of the next season, the president of the AS (or the playing captain, or a member designated by the board) organizes the election in the following way:

• Calls for candidates from among those eligible (3*)

• Receives the candidate applications, by written communication

• Evaluates candidates, in dialogue with the team players, and election of the candidate by majority of the committee

• Communicates the nomination and in case of change, passes information to the captain elect

(1*) in the case of a wish to create a new team, the proposal should be submitted for evaluation and approval to the AS committee, notably to ensure a balance with the teams which are already active

(2*) the mandate is renewable without limit on the number of successive mandates. In case of vacancy or demission during the course of the mandate, the committee of the AS will proceed to nominate a replacement for the remaining period of the mandate.

(3*) unless the exception is approved by the AS, the captain will be a playing captain. If the captain leaves, calls for candidates will be made from among the players already participating and who have shown their interest in the team during the season. For the Junior team, the captain is designated in concert between the AS and the Professional in charge.

 

Captains of Friendly Teams

 

Appointment:

For the Friendly Teams of Pont Royal, the captain is appointed by the committee of the AS, with a mandate for 3 years, renewable without limit on the number of mandates.

 

Role:

The captain of a team is a playing captain and the role includes:

• Representing Pont Royal in matters concerning the team (associations)

• Selecting players, based on their availability, the appropriateness of their handicap, and in the interest of ensuring the largest number participate

• Communication with players about the applicable rules for each competition and ensuring that organization is in place (co-driving, accommodation, etc)

• Management of the formalities associated with competitions

• Return of information to the AS for internal communication (photos, commentary, results)

 

The captain should ensure that each player:

• is a member of Pont Royal and the AS, with a valid medical certificate

• wears the team outfit at the time of the competition

• respects the rules, etiquette, and avoid slow play

The captains of the Friendly Teams (Association of Seniors of Provence, Senior Ladies of Provence, Interclub Ladies PACA, Interclub Provence, Mixed Senior Scramble) are elected for a mandate of 3 years, renewable (2*).

At the end of the season during which the mandate is finishing and before the start of the next season, the president of the AS (or the playing captain, or a member designated by the board) organizes the election in the following way:

• Informs the leaving candidate that the process is starting

• Calls for candidates from among those eligible (3*)

• Receives the candidate applications, by written communication

• Evaluates the candidates and the election of the candidate by majority of the committee

• Communicates the nomination and in case of change, passes information to the captain elect

Team Players

Selection:

Member of the Club (Ballesteros or The Durance), member of the AS, with a valid medical certificate and selected by the captain.

 

Commitment:

The player selected is committed to:

• Be available for team matches

• Understand and respect the rules and etiquette

• Behave in a courteous and sporting manner

• Put the interests of the team before their own

The players in official teams should also:

• Participate in training and official reconnaissance

• Participate in the Club Championship and in the AM/AM, organized by the AS

• Wear the designated uniform

 

 

Travelling Expenses

For players in official teams, travelling expenses are allowed as per the Charter, with the discretion of the captain. For the Friendly teams, there are no travelling expenses. At the end of the season, depending on the available budget, the players who have played most often, may be compensated.

 

Games’ Captain

Appointment:

The Games’ captain is named for a year by the committee of the AS at the Annual General Assembly.

Role:

• The Games’ captain is the interface for the teams’ captains to ensure regularly the good functioning of everyone.

• Intervenes if there is a request in case of conflict (dates, availability of players, etc)

• Assures a timely replacement in case of change

• Organizes 2 or 3 times each season a meeting of the captains to check on the teams’ function and for suggestions for improvement

• To ensure at the start of the season the coherence of the dates forteams notably any potential conflicts with competitions in the Club calendar

• Participates at the start of the year in the meeting to set the calendar of competitions with the direction of the Club
